Plural nouns ( s -es)

 A1-Elemental 

Plural nouns

a book- two books

For most words, the plural is formed by adding -s at the end;

 a car - cars

a cake- cakes

a dog- dogs

1. Id the singlular noun ends in -s ,-ss , -sh - ch , -x, or -z , add - es to the end to make it plural; 

 a box - boxes 

a watch - watches 

a dress - dresses 

2. If  the singular noun ends in -y and 

- the letter before the  -y is a vowel, simply add an -s to make it plural:

a boy - boy

-the letter before the -y is a consonant , change the ending to - ies to  make the  noun plural:

a story - stories 

3- If the nouns is ending in - f or - fe, it often changes in - ves :


a wolf - wolves

a wife - wives 

4- There are exceptions that have No rules:

child- children

man-men

woman-women

tooth-teeth

mouse-mice

deer-deer
