Past Simple

The Past Simple tense is used to talk about things that happened or existed before now.

With nost verbs, the past tense is formed by adding - ed:

I worked there

He helped me

We use didn't (did not) to make negatives with the past simple:

He didn't help me 

We use did tom ake questions with the past simple:

Did he help me ?

But there are a lot of irregular past tense forms in English. There verbs have no rules. For example, the verb know in the past simple will be knew:

I know

(Present Simple)

I don't know

(Present Simple)

I knew

(Past Simple)

I didn't know

(Past Simple)
