Articles
Articles are words that define a noun as specific or unspercific. There are two articles in English:
a(an)- unspecific
the- specific
Ejemplo
I want the apple
I want (this) apple
I want an apple
I ant (one, ony) apple
The- comes from the word " this".
a (an)- comes from the word "one 1"
When is "a" and when is "an"?
its simple, if the word (noun) begins with a vowel( a,e,o etc) , the we use an, if a consonant ( b, c , etc) we use a.
Ejemplo
a car
a table
a chair
an elephant
an orange
we don't use articles when we use :
1- numeral-(2) two carts
2- possessive pronoun- my cat
3- demonstrative pronouns this , that- car/that cat
4- negative particle NO- I have no cat
